Fine Art by Karen Derr

From the time I was able to hold a crayon, I was hooked on coloring and drawing. Growing up I always dreamed of becoming an artist. Throughout my life, I dabbled in many different mediums along with other crafts.
In October of 2006, my husband, Chris, and I married in Venice, Italy. After visiting several cities in Italy, my desire to do art became priority. So after over twenty years of working in the field of finance, I left my career to pursue my dream.
Several years ago, while attending art class at Repenning Fine Arts, I discovered my chosen medium to be oil paints. I use a limited pallet and mix my own colors. It's amazing to constantly discover new hues. Subjects are limitless, so I love to challenge myself by painting anything and everything! Some of my work has been recognized at several local art exhibits. I've been doing outdoor art festivals for several years and thoroughly enjoy everything about it. How lucky am I to share my work with people and hear their thoughts and comments. Check out my upcoming events!
